Privacy Policy

Truth or Dare · Effective April 4, 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Truth or Dare ("we", "our", or "the App") handles your information. Truth or Dare is a party game available on iOS and Android where players take turns completing truth questions and dare challenges across multiple categories and difficulty levels. By using Truth or Dare, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account & Identity Data

Truth or Dare uses platform-based authentication. On iOS, you may sign in via Apple Game Center. On Android, you may sign in via Google Play Games. If neither service is available, an anonymous Firebase account is created automatically. We receive a unique player identifier and display name from your gaming platform. We do not collect your password.

User Profile Data

We store a user profile in our cloud database containing your Firebase user ID, display name, selected theme preference, and account creation timestamp. Your email address may be stored if provided by your authentication platform, but is not required and is often null.

User-Generated Content

If you create custom truth or dare quests, these are stored in our cloud database (Google Cloud Firestore) under your user account. You may also set a private quest list with a password-protected access gate.

Gameplay Data

Locally on your device, the App stores your display name, linked authentication provider, and cached quest packs for offline play. Gameplay state (players, scores, current game progress) is managed in local memory during sessions.

Analytics Data

We use Firebase Analytics to collect usage events such as app opens, game starts, quest views, quest completions, quest skips, custom quest additions, paywall views, subscription activity, theme changes, ad engagement events, and sign-out events. We set your Firebase user ID and authentication platform as analytics identifiers.

Crash Data

Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports and diagnostic data. Your Firebase user ID is associated with crash reports to help us investigate issues.

Advertising Identifiers

Google AdMob, used to serve rewarded, interstitial, and banner advertisements, may access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android). On iOS, we request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission before accessing your IDFA. The App also uses the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present consent forms for personalized advertising where required by law.

Device Information

As declared in our Apple Privacy Manifest, the App accesses UserDefaults, file timestamps, disk space information, and system boot time for standard SDK operations. The App declares collection of Device ID for third-party advertising purposes.

Subscription Data

If you subscribe to the premium tier, your purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) through RevenueCat. We do not directly collect or store your payment information. RevenueCat associates your subscription status (entitlement "tod_premium") with your Firebase user ID.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Authenticate your identity and link it to your Game Center or Play Games profile.
  • Store and sync your display name, theme preferences, and custom quest content.
  • Enable offline play by caching quest content on your device.
  • Serve rewarded video, interstitial, and banner advertisements (non-premium users).
  • Manage your subscription status for premium content (Wild and Madness categories, Quest Editor, and couple mode variants).
  • Analyze anonymous usage patterns to improve game balance, fix bugs, and develop new quest content.
  • Diagnose and fix crashes using Crashlytics reports.
  • Deliver AI-generated quest content from our servers (the generation process uses the Anthropic API and does not use any player data).

Data Storage and Security

Your gameplay preferences, display name, and cached quest content are stored locally on your device. User profiles, custom quests, and configuration data are stored in Google Cloud Firestore. All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We only share data with the third-party services listed above, and only as necessary to provide the App's functionality.

Data Retention

Your Firebase account, user profile, and custom quest content persist as long as you use the App. You may request account deletion at any time through the App's Settings screen, which invokes our server-side deleteUserAccount function to remove your Firestore documents and Firebase Authentication account. Depending on your jurisdiction (including under GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Delete your account and associated data via the in-app account deletion feature or by contacting us.
  • Opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device settings (Settings > Privacy > Tracking on iOS, or Settings > Google > Ads on Android), or by declining consent when prompted by the UMP consent form.
  • Withdraw consent for analytics collection by uninstalling the App.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable regulations. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
